The State of Massachusetts placed this new order after seeing successful results from past vehicle conversions by XL Hybrids for the DCR and Environmental Police vehicles. Those vehicle upfits, which are on a mix of Ford Transit vans, Ford E-Series Cutaways and Chevy Express vans, have saved 650 gallons of gas to date and the agencies expect to save nearly 82,000 gallons over the life of the systems.
Leading universities, municipalities and national parks are among the latest fleet customers to deploy XL Hybrids’ fuel efficiency technology.

This multiyear contract allows public fleets nationwide to purchase the XL3 Hybrid Electric Drive System as both an upfit and a retrofit product through an established public contracting mechanism with competitive volume pricing.

The F-59 platform, with payloads exceeding 15,000 pounds, is ideal for food, linen and package delivery fleets. The XL3 hybrid system is installed on F-59 trucks in less than six hours.
